"Las Manuelas" is a physical, emotional, moral, and psychological interpretation of a person. In attempting to depict the true character of this woman, the drawings create an idealized figure charged with my own desires, convictions, and political opinions. The tension between reality and idealization is expressed through precise geometric elements that portray the figure in unexpected situations. Las Manuelas belongs to a tradition of portraits by Hermenegildo Bustos, Picabia, and Goya, where the interpretation of a person's characteristics is more important than realistic imitation. The series is a work in progress and currently comprises around 400 drawings. A Book with 320 drawings and texts by Marcello Farabegoli and Franz Thalmair was published in 2023 and is availabe on the website of editorial AboVerlag.
