matter > artifice > atlas (3-12 December, 2025)
produced for "Sediments of the now" curated by Karina Fernandez at Stadtraum Mitte 15, Vienna

matter > artifice > atlas is an archive of dozens of found images of objects with ambiguous functions and appearances. These images, numbered and printed on transparent sheets, are affixed to the gallery's glass windows, forming a visual atlas visible both to visitors inside and to passersby outside. Inside the gallery, a small publication provides descriptions of each object according to its number, along with a text that reflects on the archive. The project questions the value and function of objects that, overtaken by technological advances, have become obsolete, thereby calling into question the symbolic relationship between labor > object > function > value. At the same time, it challenges the assumption that what humans transform ceases to belong to nature, suggesting instead that our work, like that of a beetle or an ant, is nothing more than another form of matter's transformation, sustaining the natural cycle of life
